Mazda was organized by Jugiro Matsuda in 1920 as the Toyo Cork Kogyo Company. The small enterprise, located in Hiroshima in southern Japan, was initially involved in the manufacture of cork products. In the mid-1920s, however, it expanded its product line to include several machined products. The current Mazda symbol that has been established since 1997 is meant to symbolize the company’s vision to expand its wings for the future.
